The-Neuro-Robotik-Zentrum-in-Munich

The Neuro-Robotik Zentrum in Munich uses state-of-the-art robotic technology including the Innowalk Pro

The Neuro-Robotik Zentrum, a clinic in Munich, Germany, is equipped with the latest generation of rehabilitation robots. Under professionally competent guidance, patients from Munich and the surrounding area receive state-of-the-art rehabilitation. In addition, patients are offered conventional physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

Challenge

Most patients in the clinic have severe and multiple disabilities associated with neurological or orthopaedic disorders. This can increase the physical demand on therapists daily. To optimise patient-centred rehabilitation, whilst also prioritizing the safety of their staff, the clinic has invested in the best robotic rehabilitation equipment in the field of neurorehabilitation.

Solution

The Innowalk Pro is a versatile full-body movement trainer. The adjustable leg supports and upper limb movers allow for reciprocal full body engagement whilst in an upright position. The Innowalk Pro enables even the most severely affected patients — who may not be able to usually tolerate standing.

Patients get the opportunity to engage in intensive training both in a reclined and upright vertical position, without the need for suspension. All the while, the manual handling needs of the Innowalk Pro are minimal, relieving the therapy team from strenuous physical activity.

Result

The initiated passive movement in an upright weight-bearing position leads to reactive movements from the patient. The Innowalk Pro also offers adaptive levels of training. Depending on each patient’s physical ability, the training intensity can be adjusted to the patients’ capabilities, choosing to complete a full-body workout without the use of suspension in a standing position. This is possible even if they cannot stand independently. The movement provided is supported, corrective, and repetitive whilst in weightbearing. Stimulating the whole body has shown the potential of achieving specific therapy goals faster. Patients appear to experience both physical and emotional improvements in their well-being when accessing this type of training.

The set up and operation of the Innowalk Pro is both efficient and smooth, a desirable attribute recognised by the therapists. It requires very little physical demand providing more time dedicated towards other therapeutic activities. This also motivates the staff, making therapy more effective and demonstrating better outcomes.

With the Innowalk Pro, we can respond very precisely to the individual needs of patients. Thanks to its ease of use, the therapy time can be optimally utilized
