For families in the North of England, access to specialist paediatric neurorehabilitation has long been limited. The new Healing Touch Rehab Centre in Leeds changes this–becoming the region’s only outpatient clinic offering the Innowalk Pro, setting a new standard for local, high-quality care.

Clinical expertise built on experience

Founded in 2013, Healing Touch Rehab has grown from a community-based service into a highly respected provider of neurological rehabilitation for both children and adults. Its experienced multidisciplinary team delivers physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and specialist assessments, working closely with case managers, legal teams, charities, and NHS professionals. Known for its evidence-based practice, clear communication, and detailed reporting, Healing Touch Rehab has become a trusted partner in complex rehabilitation and medico-legal cases.

Our aim has always been to make high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation accessible to families who need it, says Kay Ganguly, Founder and Clinical Director.

“Our aim has always been to make high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation accessible to families who need it,” says Kay Ganguly, Founder and Clinical Director. “This centre allows us to bring specialist expertise and advanced technology together — closer to home.”

Addressing a critical service gap

Children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, or rare neurological syndromes have historically faced limited access to intensive rehabilitation in the North. Many families were forced to travel to the South East, delaying early intervention and adding emotional and financial strain.

The new centre in Horsforth changes this reality, providing comprehensive, specialist rehabilitation under one roof and offering families and professionals a high-quality local alternative that matches national centres of excellence.

Innowalk Pro: Advancing Technology-Led Neurorehabilitation

At the heart of the centre is the Innowalk Pro, a pioneering device that enables children and young people with limited or no independent walking ability to experience safe, upright, rhythmic movement. By promoting circulation, joint mobility, muscle activation, and essential sensory feedback, the Innowalk Pro opens new possibilities for children who may never have experienced supported stepping before.

Healing Touch Rehab Centre is proud to be the only outpatient provider in the North of England to offer this technology. The Innowalk Pro is supported by additional robotic and gait-based rehabilitation systems, which complement hands-on therapy and provide measurable data to track progress and support clinical decision-making.

“The Innowalk Pro allows us to deliver movement training that simply wasn’t possible before,” explains Kay. “It’s not just technology — it’s opportunity.”

Innowalk Individual for home use

While the Innowalk is commonly used in clinical settings, many people also benefit from having one at home. Every Innowalk is individually fitted and tailored to support each user’s unique needs. Information on how to access an Innowalk, including funding options, can be found here.

For families seeking Innowalk for home use, Healing Touch Rehab can offer an assessment and block booking service, to give users an opportunity to try it out first.

Integrated, evidence-based care

The centre’s multidisciplinary team works collaboratively across physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and vestibular rehabilitation to deliver truly integrated care. Therapy programmes are grounded in evidence-based principles and neuroplasticity, with the option of intensive rehabilitation blocks that allow children to make meaningful progress within defined timeframes — reducing the burden of long-term weekly travel for families.

A sensory studio for engagement and regulation

To support whole-child development, the centre includes a dedicated sensory studio designed to promote sensory regulation, confidence, and engagement. With adaptable equipment and a calm, welcoming environment, therapists can tailor sessions to each child’s individual sensory and emotional needs, helping them feel safe, motivated, and supported throughout their rehabilitation journey.
