The Rehab Physio Ltd.
The Rehab Physio provides advanced specialist neurological physiotherapy in the North West of England and North Wales to people with a variety of serious neurological conditions and injuries. Their physiotherapists are skilled in analysing posture, muscle tone, movement control and co-ordination.
They also focus on the patient’s interaction with the environment and offer a wide range of treatments including hands-on physiotherapy techniques as well as new technology.
Challenge
There are limited opportunities for progressive treatment techniques for patients with low level of postural control. Particularly for children and young people with CP GMFCS level 5 who are generally managed in static splints and standing frames.
Solution
They have integrated the robotic rehabilitation trainer Innowalk Pro into their clinic to allow patients with moderate to severe disabilities to access vertical, dynamic weight-bearing. For some patients this is the first time they are standing and moving!
Result
The Innowalk Pro stimulates and strengthens heart and lung function, helps regulate muscle tone, and prevents loss of flexibility. It offers a unique treatment option for children with severe neurological disabilities, where traditional stationary aids have limited effect. The device enables safe exercise even for those with severe impairments, leading to significantly better outcomes.
Clinical experience shows that the Innowalk Pro is a valuable tool in spasticity management. Combined with botulinum toxin, functional electrical stimulation, and dynamic weight-bearing therapy, it helps achieve optimal results for patients with dystonic, spastic, or stiff lower limbs.
