What is unique about the Innowalk?

Innowalk is a motorized standing and walking device for mobilisation and activity in a standing position, much like a supportive cross trainer. Users do not need to have independent standing or walking ability to use the Innowalk, therefore, it is an ideal device for individuals who spend significant portions of their day sitting or lying down. The change in position, and the fact that the standing position is dynamic and not static, offers many positive health benefits.

What are the typical options for funding Innowalk?

Innowalk is unfortunate not eligible for provision through local authority funding in the UK and Ireland. However, there are still funding opportunities for assistive devices not available from the National Health Service (NHS).

The typical options for funding Innowalk are:

  • Medicolegal Cases - The Innowalk is often provided through litigation. Made for Movement can liaise with Expert Witnesses, Case Managers, Solicitors and Financial Deputies to provide the information they may need to fund the Innowalk for their clients.
  • Charity Grants - There are many charities who will provide grants to individuals to help them access Innowalk.
  • Fundraising - The Made for Movement team can help you with creative ideas for fundraising and give examples of what has worked well in the past for other successful clients such as crowd funding.

Expert Witnesses and Case Managers have access to a download version of the guide here

Where do I start?

You may just have seen videos of the Innowalk or seen at a glance at a fair. Now it is time to find out if the Innowalk is suitable for your child. You can discuss this with your child’s physiotherapist and/or you can contact us in Made for Movement. Many of our product specialists are physiotherapists and/or have many years of experience with assistive technology and are especially skilled in Innowalk.

1st step - Assessment

Now it is time to for an initial assessment of the Innowalk to your child. You can contact your local product specialist to arrange this.

The main objectives of an assessment are to:

  • Find out if the Innowalk is a suitable solution for your child and to what extent it solves the challenges you or the child is facing
  • See how it works and how it can support your child’s development
  • Answer any questions you have and find solutions to specific challenges

Before an assessment, we will ask for some relevant background information to establish what size device and accessories your child requires. These are typically questions we ask:

  • Current height and weight of the child
  • Any relevant background information on their functional level and other equipment/orthoses used
  • Preferred location of assessment
  • Any access issues
  • Who will be attending the assessment (including contact info for the treating physiotherapist if possible)
  • Any preferred days/times (we will try to accommodate this, but may not always be possible)

We recommend that you allow 90 minutes for an initial assessment.

2nd step - Trial/loan

We aim offer a free of charge equipment loan to your child for 2-3 weeks. This may not be available straight after the initial assessment and will be organised via the product specialist based on equipment availability. For a trial/loan set up, family members and carers who will be responsible to assist the child in using the device should be available to be trained on the safe use of Innowalk for the duration of the trial.

We recommend that 90 minutes is allowed for this. Upon delivery, a date/time for collection will be agreed upon.

3rd step – Price of the Innowalk

Following an assessment, your product specialist can provide an estimation document for the Innowalk size and specification required by the client. Estimates show current prices and model of product plus accessories.

4th step – Quotation

When you are getting ready to place your order, we will generate an official quotation to replace the estimate. Quotations will be bound by terms & conditions and will be valid for 60 days. All prices include shipping and delivery.

5th step – Ordering

When you are ready to order an Innowalk you email to this address: orders.uk@madeformovement.com

The order should include a valid quotation reference number and the client's name. An initial 50% deposit is required upon order to commence manufacturing, while the remaining 50% balance due on delivery. Delivery is typically between 6-8 weeks from point of order, as the Innowalk is built to order at our manufacturing site in Norway and shipped to the UK for final assembly and Quality Checks.

We deliver the Innowalk free of charge to the user’s home or school by courier/technician, and will then require an additional visit from a product specialist to fit it to the user and conduct handover training as well as operator Q&A.

Charity grant and fundraising information

On our webpage we have gathered a list for you with charities, local and specific group charities and also other equipment grants. You find it here.

Before you start fundraising we encourage you to follow the step 1 to 3 described above.

To support your charity grant applications, we can provide you with:

  • An itemised quotation with terms and conditions
  • A supporting letter detailing the parts and service package included in your quotation, including lifespan and user limitations of the product
  • Support to your health professional for writing their justification letter, including evidence based clinical reasoning
